In 2007, the Kansas Firefighters Museum received a grant from the Kansas Humanities Councils to preserve and organize the museum's (paper & photo) collection. Each item was examined and evaluated, with itmes of special interest copied, bound, and made available for general use

Newpaper articles have neem carefully removed from old newspapers and placed in protective covers. After processing was completed, all materials were indexed and placed in acid free containers.

All photographs have recieved special care amd handling, along with professianal training for museum volunterrs.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

This is my new favorite museum in Wichita! The exhibis are all well put together, hte area museums couldlearn a thing or two from this museum. They have tons of fire fighting meorabilia from the first firefighters in Wichita up to the present. The museum director basically gave us a private tour that kept my 2 and 4 year old boys enthralled. He let them try out the bells and some otherartifacts and allowed them to sit on the refurbrished fire engine.
EMILY CRANE
This little firehouse is PACKED full of history including 2 very rare, fully restored fire engines, photos, nozzles of every shape and size and tons of gadgets I haven't seen anywhere else! Every staff member was friendly, knowledgeable, and able to answer all of my questions. Being right downtown (just 1 block south Kellog on Broadway) this is a MUST see attraction for Wichitans and visitors alike!
