PRESERVING OUR HISTORY
In 2007, the Kansas Firefighters Museum received a grant from the Kansas Humanities Councils to preserve and organize the museum's (paper & photo) collection. Each item was examined and evaluated, with items of special interest copied, bound, and made available for general use.
Newpaper articles have neem carefully removed from old newspapers and placed in protective covers. After processing was completed, all materials were indexed and placed in acid free containers.
All photographs have received special care and handling, along with professional training for museum volunteers.
Special thanks to the Wichita Fire Department for providing the work and storage space necessary for cataloging our collection.
